Help Pass SB 1132 – Fracking Moratorium

Senators Mitchell and Leno have introduced SB 1132, a bill that will impose a moratorium on fracking until scientific studies are done that show fracking will not harm our environment and health. SB 1132 has made it through two committees. The bill now moves to the Senate Appropriations Committee http://sapro.senate.ca.gov/ on May 19 and we need you to help us get it through the committee and onto the Senate floor. Here are the steps to take:
Call all seven senators on the Appropriations Committee and tell them to vote yes on SB 1132:
Senator Kevin de León (Chair) – (916) 651-4022
Senator Mimi Walters (Vice Chair) – (916) 651-4037
Senator Darrell Steinberg – (916) 651-4006
Senator Ricardo Lara – (916) 651-4033
Senator Alex Padilla – (916) 651-4020
Senator Ted Gaines – (916) 651-4001
Senator Jerry Hill – (916) 651-4013
Draft a brief letter summarizing why you support SB 1132 and urging the committee to support the bill. See sample letter below.
Send the letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee, State Capitol, Room 2206, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Mail or fax a copy of the letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chair, Kevin de Leon, State Capitol, Room 5108, Sacramento CA 95814 (Fax 916-327-8817) and to Senate Pro Tem, Darrell Steinberg, California State Senate, Capitol Building, Room 205, Sacramento, CA 95814.
For fact sheets on the bill, summary of provisions, basic fact sheet on fracking, etc., go to http://frackfreecali.org/.
