This website is a gathering spot for health and environmental issues affecting Martinez, CA and nearby communities of Contra Costa and Solano Counties. The group evolved after a local series of forums called our attention to the dangers of volatile Bakken crude oil being delivered by rail car into the cities of Contra Costa County.
We meet twice monthly in Martinez, CA.

Organized by concerned Martinez residents in March of 2014, this group is a gathering place for anyone concerned about health and environmental issues affecting Martinez, CA and nearby communities of Contra Costa County.
The mission of the Martinez Environmental Group is to ensure a livable planet beyond the 7th generation by active stewardship of land, animals, plants, trees, water and air, with a vision towards sustainable communities.
Our primary issues for Martinez & local surrounding areas are:
- stopping the transit of explosive Bakken crude by rail;
- reducing air pollution from industrial and other sources;
- supporting development of clean, renewable energy sources
and a transition to an energy economy beyond fossil fuels.
